Overview
NF-20 is a powder mist inhibitor for hard and decorative chromium plating. The source describes a fluorine-free formulation that helps suppress chromium mist without the low-current-density corrosion and anode corrosion associated with fluorinated alternatives. It can also be used in plastic etching, aluminum anodizing and acidic or alkaline electrolytic pretreatment.
Dissolve the powder in water before use. The typical addition for decorative chromium is 0.02–0.05 g/L; hard chromium applications require a higher dose. Replenish in small, frequent additions to avoid excessive foam and drag-out losses.
